  • August/September: Request accommodations (excused absences, 等) from your professors, supervisors 和 coaches:  If you will be out of class or your student job on Yom Kippur or for any other religious observance you should start that process as soon as you know your schedule. 不确定 how to do this or what to ask for?   • First week of September: 犹太人 学生生活, Hillel, 和 Challahmore tabling: Come say hello, sign up for updates, 和 pick up a treat or some swag. 会有 be tables at New Student Orientation 和 Club Fair. 
  • Throughout the Semester: Shabbat Services 和 Dinners, Havdalah, Challah bakes, Brunch programs, 和更多的
  • September 15-17: Rosh Hashanah:  Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner, on campus services 和 access to off-campus services, 和Tashlich 
  • September 24-25: Yom Kippur: On campus services, access to off-campus services,  Breaking of the Fast, 和 opportunities to step away from the bustle of campus 
  • September 26-28: Help build the Sukkah: : Help build 和 decorate our Sukkah on Case Green! 
  • September 28: Comedy for Peace:  犹太人, 穆斯林, 和 基督教 Comedians, 7pm in Filene Auditorium, part of Saratoga 和平周 
  • September 29-October 6: 住棚节: Music, meals, services 和更多的 in the Sukkah throughout the festival
  • Fall Retreat: Date TBA, off-campus retreat 和 shabbaton, a chance to connect with other 犹太人 students 和 take a break from campus
  • Hanukkah: Evening of December 7 - evening of December 15: C和le lighting, 食物, study breaks (it will be exam week!),以及更多 

Arriving early for OP Academic Institute, athletics, 领导人hip training, pre-Orientation, 等? Let us know if you would like to celebrate Shabbat or otherwise connect with 犹太人 学生生活 和 other students 和 we will help you out. 

期待什么: 学生 at Skidmore connect to 犹太人 Life in a wide variety of ways. 一些成为 active in our clubs, including Hillel 和 Challahmore. Others just stop by now 和 then for a Shabbat gathering. Some are particularly passionate about social justice 和 tikkun olam projects or helping to plan events that raise awareness about Judaism 和 犹太人 Culture. During the academic year Shabbat services take place at 5:15 on Friday evenings, usually at 威尔逊教堂 (be sure you're signed up with us to get updates about locations 和 sign-ups for events!). Shabbat dinners are at 6:30pm, usually on the second floor of the Dining Hall. Havdalah gatherings take place at least once each month. Can't join us in person but want some challah 和 juice, or even some (residence hall- approved electric) c和les for your own welcoming of Shabbat? Grab a Shabbat bag! Bags will be available most Friday afternoons at the tables in Case Center or contact us to request one.

  • 俱乐部: 火博体育大学 supports student-led clubs with a wide range of interests. 学生 who do not find the club they are looking for are encouraged to talk to our staff about creating new programming or starting new groups.   • 安息日: Weekly student-led Shabbat services on campus, Shabbat dinners with c和le lighting 和 blessings, opportunities to attend off-campus services, 和 Havdalah gatherings to close out Shabbat 和 turn to the new week. 
  • 圣日: pre-Rosh Hashanah programming including shofar blowing during Elul, on-campus services in partnership with Temple Sinai of 萨拉托加温泉市, celebratory meals, support for students fasting on Yom Kippur, 和更多的!
  • 住棚节: Building 和 decorating a Sukkah on Case Green in the center of campus, fun 和 enriching events throughout the holiday including meals, discussions, 和 music in the Sukkah 
  • Retreats 和 Shabbatons: Multi-day immersive experiences to build connections with peers 和 explore 犹太人 identity, culture, 和 practice, 和 to just have fun 和 take a break from the hard work of the semester. 
  • 犹太人 history, culture, 和  实践: from weekly events like "Tea, Text, Torah" discussions, to invited speakers, to cooking demonstrations, there are many ways for students to engage with a wide range of topics related to 犹太人 life 和 culture.
  • Hanukkah, Tu Bishvat, Purim, Lag B'Omer, 和更多的! - In addition to the "bigger" holidays we often have events 和 programming (和 食物!) to mark 犹太人 observances throughout the year. 
  • 逾越节: Seder gatherings, chametz-free options in the Dining Hall 和 at events, movie nights, 和更多的
  • 跨信仰 和 cross-cultural engagement: Partnerships with other religious 和 cultural clubs to host gatherings, collaborate on service projects, 和 raise awareness about religious 和 cultural diversity at Skidmore 和 beyond.
  • 领导 opportunities: Whether it's leading services or planning 更美好 projects or finding internships with 犹太人 organizations there are many ways students can get involved as emerging 领导人.
